• 9:30 AM: Your guide will pick you up from your guesthouse in Bukit Lawang.
• Scenic Drive (1.5 hours): Enjoy a journey through the Sumatran countryside, observing the changing landscapes as you travel along bumpy jungle roads towards Tangkahan. You'll witness the expansive palm oil plantations juxtaposed with the backdrop of Gunung Leuser National Park – a poignant reminder of deforestation.

• Elephant Conservation: Understand the role of the Conservation Response Unit (CRU), which safeguards the national park with the help of rescued Sumatran elephants and their mahouts. We no longer promote elephant washing due to ethical concerns regarding elephant treatment and training. We recommend researching the "Walk with the Elephants" activity as a more ethical way to experience these magnificent creatures.
